Wildlife visitors

Homer is the gateway to brown bear viewing.A short flight takes you to prime brown bear viewing area through some of the most beautiful scenery in Alaska. In flight, see the Homer Spit,  Grewingk and Four Peaks  glaciers, Eldrige Passage, Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, Mt. Augustine volcano, the Barren Islands and small villages along the way. If you look close, you may see whales, wolves and more bear from the plane.  We spent the day watching these magestic giants graze in this swamp and catching fish in the stream.

Here I am up close and personal with the bears.This is an experience you will never forget.

Moose like to hang around A Rosy Outlook. Nearly every year momma moose has her calves in our neighborhood.  It is normal for her to have two calves but one year she had three. What a treat for our guests to see this rare site.Young calves are so fun to watch as they learn to run and kick up their heels.Our rose hedge is a favorite snack for moose. We had to take down the moose salad bar sign and fence them out of our gardens.

Almost all of our visitors will see at least one moose while in Homer.

Black bear occasionally visit at A Rosy Outlook. One afternoon we were waiting for four ladies to arrive when I heard noises out front. I called to Erless that our guests had arrived. What a surprise to see these four guests! They were not exaclty what we expected to see. These bears are very shy around people and run away at the slighest noise. It is always fun to see them.
